Title: Building the Queer Revolutionary Project

In recent years, queer revolutionary forces have been organizing in Tiohtiá:ke and across so-called Québec in response, on the one hand, to the rise of the far right and the fascist turn in power, and on the other hand, to the neutralization of queer politics through pinkwashing and rainbow capitalism.

In issue #0 of Front rose, our goal was to situate these ongoing struggles within a history of queer resistance. Whether looking at the recent local past or earlier movements across North America, each article offered a perspective on previous episodes of activism. With this issue #1, we want the texts to now turn toward the future and its insurrectionary potential.

Contributors are invited to imagine, formulate, and develop reflections on the strategies needed to build a revolutionary horizon. Fighting fascism and capitalism means rejecting the world as it is—but also dreaming of and building other worlds. What strategies and initiatives hold revolutionary potential? What tactics do we want to adopt, what pitfalls must we avoid, and what retrospective lessons can we draw from the past years of struggle as we prepare for the difficult—but perhaps promising—years ahead? What might a queer revolution look like? What futures do we want to defend?

All proposals for analysis, theoretical or practical development are welcome. So are exercises in prefiguration, inventive formal proposals, and creative exploration.

Possible themes include (but are not limited to): housing, street tactics and community self-defense, ableism, revolutionary utopias, anti-racism and decolonial practices, bodily autonomy, transmisogyny, environmental struggles, insurrectionary projects, conflict and abuse resolution, overcoming liberal and homonationalist logics, transformative justice, propaganda strategies, and the dissemination of ideas.
