Israel is currently invading Lebanon
Supported and defended by the West, Israel is now fully engaged in the invasion of Lebanon. After the Mossad terror attacks of recent weeks, and almost a year to the day of genocide, Netanyahu's government is launching a new phase of escalating violence.
This third Israeli invasion of Lebanon takes place in a different political context from the previous ones. The regime currently ruling Israel represents the most radicalized version of Zionism.
More and more, the idea of a “Greater Israel” is taking pride of place in the communications and visuals of those close to the regime. This vision of an Israel stretching from the Nile to the Euphrates is far from a serious government proposal, but it does reveal the ultra-nationalist logic that drives the Zionist regime. A logic downplayed by the media here.
The return of settlers to Gaza, the expansion of settlement zones in the West Bank and even the annexation of southern Lebanon are circulating in the Israeli right-wing media and intelligentsia. Supported at all costs by the American empire, the Zionist state is anchored in a terrifying logic of warlike expansion.
On October 7, we'll be told about the Israeli dead whose innocence is unquestionable, unlike the Palestinian terrorists. We'll be reminded of Israel's right to “defend itself” as Israeli soldiers invade yet another country. Apparently, some lives are worth more than others.
The mainstream media, after invisibilizing the conflict for as long as possible, will now continue to ensure the production of a discourse justifying all manner of horrors. Because our societies are fully invested in genocide.
Our governments, our media, our industries, our bourgeoisie and our institutions materially support this expansion of war, which threatens to set the whole region ablaze as the gears of local alliances are activated.
An ever-expanding fascist regime. Plans for ethnic cleansing and repopulation. Accelerating conflict through the interplay of alliances. Let's not allow them to drag us into a new cycle of wars on a global scale.
Since it is the West that is enabling this expansion of violence, we must continue to fight here too. We are far from having done enough. This is not the end. Unfortunately, it's only the beginning. Let's get organized. Long live the People's Intifada.
